Sabah kidnaps have had more impact than MH370 on Chinese tourist numbers - Nazri Aziz

The kidnappings in Sabah's east coast have had a more adverse effect on tourism arrivals to Malaysia than the disappearance of flight MH370, Parliament was told today.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said as of April this year, China cancelled 76 flights to the state capital city, Kota Kinabalu.

National carrier Malaysia Airlines saw 10 scheduled flights from Shanghai cancelled, while China Southern Airlines cancelled 22 flights from Shenzhen. Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines cancelled 44 flights from Shanghai to Sabah.

"Yes, what happened in Sabah has had a worse impact than the MH370 incident," he told Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak). - The Malaysian Insider
