Malaysia commited provide technical training in collaboration
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan: The involvement of PETRONAS in the exploration of oil and gas fields in Turkmenistan for the past 18 years, gets high praise and appreciation from President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov yesterday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the President of Turkmenistan considered PETRONAS as an outstanding organization and respected by many.
"The dedication and commitment showed was encouraging. I congratulate PETRONAS and staffs who show a high level of professionalism and corporate citizenship comply with local laws.
"The country also needs special needs as their children are given training and experience, especially in the field of oil and gas. We must understand that as a country of great ambition like Malaysia, Turkmenistan also needs to have a global strategy, "he said at a luncheon with Malaysians who are living and working here.
Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor then mingled with about 100 Malaysians who attended the event. Approximately 350 Malaysian are in the country.
Global strategy
The Prime Minister said Malaysia also has a global strategy when exploring the Central Asian which are rich with oil and gas resources.
"This area is also the gateway between Asia, Europe and Russia as well as our involvement including Turkmenistan, giving new opportunities and increase market access for our exports, as well as able to develop other areas such as education, construction, hotel and Islamic banking," he said.
In this regard, he hoped Malaysians always had a passion and commitment and determination in the face of trials and challenges, as shown by the Japanese and Korean courage to invest in the world.
Meanwhile, he said, in a four-eye meeting with Gurbanguly, he told Malaysia's desire to explore new areas such as halal food and Islamic banking as well as keen to share its expertise in other sectors such as construction, mining, tourism, chemicals, and telecommunications.
"I am grateful to President Gurbanguly who wants to see greater involvement by Petronas in Turkmenistan. We are committed to continue to provide technical training to the students of this country through a joint venture, "he said.
The Prime Minister and his wife celebrated at a dinner at the Presidential Palace, before returning to his homeland, last night.
In a separate event, Rosmah visited the Children's Fitness Complex in Gokdere, about 45 minutes away.
She met some of the 325 students aged 6 to 14 years, following a short-term studies in conjunction with school summer holidays for three months starting this month.
