I will help to find the MH370: Hishammuddin

Putrajaya: Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, will continue to work with the new Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, on the MH370-finding mission aircraft.

Hishammuddin, who was previously the Acting Minister of Transport, said that although he will focus on his ministry, he will continue to help until Tiong Lai is comfortable to handling MH370 issue especially in terms of relationships with leaders of the countries involved.

"I have been synonymous with the MH370 and will continue to help. If Tiong Lai needs me during press conference, I will be there, "he said at a joint press conference after the handover work in the Ministry of Transport yesterday.

Hishammuddin holds Acting Transport Minister since May 15 last year and has been involved in handling large number of cases involving the ministry, including the tragedy bus overturned in Genting Highlands, the plane crashed in Kudat, Sabah and Sarawak boat capsized.

Hishammuddin said after this, press conference about the MH370 will be more specific, not just the placement of assets such as Bluefin-21 and Ocean Shield, but also the involvement of private companies like Petronas that use their assets in the search.

Meanwhile, Liow said he will be going to Canberra, Australia and Beijing, China, in the near future to get the latest information about the MH370.

He will meet Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Warren Truss and Joint Head of the Agency Coordinating Center (JACC), Angus Houston, and the Minister of Transport of China, Yang Chuantang.
