CEO of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Relations (IDEAS), Wan Saiful Wan Jan, said that every time the efforts to reform and restructure, company will always accept obstacles through the union.
"I think what needs to be done to make profit for MAS is trying to work with the union, where their employees have a great influence and a brave to stand and talk.
"The power in the union should be coordinated with the airline's interest to ensure that the profits of both parties stay balanced," he said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
To accept changes
At the same time, he also criticized the Union that are often resist the changes attempted to MAS and advised them to be open-minded and accepting the change in order to save the country’s Airlines from further losses.
He said MAS are among the airlines that can provide the best service compared to other companies such as Emirates or American Airlines, but they failed from the aspect of price competition.
"For example, the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang which takes only 45 minutes and users would prefer to use other airlines because it would be cheaper than MAS following it does not have much of a difference, "he said.
Become private companies
In addition, he also supported the MAs as a private company instead of a government-owned company (GLCs).
He said, it is for the future of the company, especially in order to make changes and generate a profit.
"As long as MAS remains as a GLC, their staffs will always be safe to assume their positions with government guarantees even they have to face various difficulties without realizing it will increase the bad affect to the company," he said.
