5 militants killed in U.S. drone attack in Pakistan

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan: At least five militants were killed in two drone strikes by the U.S. early Monday in Pakistan's northwest region where the military launched a massive attack.

Security officials said six missiles on three areas in the Dargah Mandi village in North Waziristan, about 10 kilometers west of Miranshah town that is considered a stronghold of the Haqqani network with links to al-Qaeda.

"The U.S. drone fired six missiles on three areas in the two villages, and at least five militants were killed," said an official in Miranshah. - AFP
