Newly-appointed Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is welcome to meet him and discuss proposals for a new Penang International Airport (PIA).
"There is no problem if the Chief Minister wants to meet me to discuss the matter as it is for the sake of our country's development.
"The PIA is a big airport and also vital for the economic growth in the northern region of peninsula Malaysia," the MCA president told reporters after launching the Bukit Bendera division annual general assembly in Lorong Sempadan Dua here.
"It will be too early for me to comment about the airport. I'm only going to my office tomorrow (Monday) to look into all the details.
"We will look into all the suggestions and proposals from Kedah and Penang as a whole, and see how the economic growth in the northern region can be increased," he said. - TheStar
