KUALA LUMPUR- Malaysia's readiness to host the World Scout Conference and Forum 41st World Scout Degree 13th to be held in 2017.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hopes, scouting organizations in other countries to gives support to Malaysia's aspiration.
"I hope the voting will be carried out in Slovenia later this year will be in favor of Malaysia," he said in his opening address at the World Scout Bureau of the Office of Central Vista Tower here today.
Also present, Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor; Vice President of the Philippines, Jejomar C. Binay; Secretary-General of the World Scout Movement (WOSM), Scott Teare; Member of the WOSM, Simon Hang-Bock Rhee and Chief National Scout Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Shafie. Salleh.
New Office of the World Scout Bureau is function as a service center for international operations WOSM.
The Prime Minister also expressed his happiness with the World Scout Bureau decision to move its operations to Malaysia.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all," he said.
He described the scouting organization with over 40 million members in 162 countries as a club thet have capabilities of bringing change in people's lives.
Meanwhile, the office that places 30 of staff from various countries serves as a service center for international operations WOSM.
With the opening of the office, networking between offices of the World Scout Bureau in Brussels, Cairo, Kiev, Geneva, Manila, Nairobi and Panama City is becoming increasingly widespread.
The move allows WOSM based in Geneva communicate with national scout organizations in 162 countries around the world.
In the meantime, Scott Teare said, seven cities have been shortlisted and finally Kuala Lumpur was chosen as the location of the new Office of the World Scout Bureau.
Six other cities are also short listed London, Dubai, Bangkok, Geneva, Paris and Singapore.
"Kuala Lumpur and WOSM has a unique combination. Metropolitan Cities that highlights the modern life while WOSM gather together young people who have good and strong values ," he said at the opening ceremony.
